Well I believe my mind is made up, I'll go with the Goodyear GSD3s. I did find a local NJ Goodyear dealer with two rear tires in stock and he wants $800(includes mounting) for them. Other than that everyone says they are on backorder and don't know when they'll get them in. My two front tires might pass inspection but the rears are bald. Calling around checking for prices I had to hear a lot of stories telling me I shouldn't miss match front and rear tires, especially runflats and non-runflats. Also one tirestore mgr. said that his corporate headquarters told him that he shouldn't ever replace a runflat tire with a non-flat tire because the customer will come back and complain with the first flat tire. I told him I'm well aware of the argument but I understand what I'm doing but I had to hangup because he kept going on and on and on...
Do you think $800 for two rear(275 40-18 installed) is too much money?
Do you think if I somehow postpone inspection for 5-6 weeks the tires will be available for a more reasonable price?
If you have limited income why dont you just bite the bullet and get a cheap set of foreign tires just for inspection? When you get back making money then buy expensive tires. Makes sense to me
I have the GS D3's on my C4 and think they are one of the best ultra high performance values out there... however... they are definitely not a snow tire under any circumstances. An inch or two of snow and they are a slick... literally. The groves pack with snow and even traction control won't save you...
In every other regard I believe them to be an awesome tire and more than adequate... you will not be disappointed... unless you try them in the snow!

For two GS-D3s, yes I think that is way too high. Especially when you can get the entire set for less than a grand. Try the Firestone Wide Ovals - not sure if they are made in the USA but they have been getting some good reviews and are available through the Tire Rack for about $720 for a set of 4.
I just bought a set of Michelin Pilot AS sports from (insert shameless plug here) Americas Tire. Compared to the OEM GY's even when they were new and not slick, abused and hard as rocks the Michelins are a vast improvement. Tread noise is at least 50% less. If Michelin is good enough for the C5R/C6R ...........
