gaps
Is it possible to narrow the gaps between the body panals.
(esp. front quarter to door)

Yes, but if you do so, make sure the panels dont hit each other when they close. There should be around a 1/8 th inch of gap, anything less and you will have doors hitting fenders and a repair bill.

Do you think that you might possibly be looking at something that no one else will ever notice?
You probably only noticed it because it's your car.

Could be, I am a little Monkish when it comes to that stuff, but i still think it's a little wide.

how's the door to rear qtr panel? Can the door be moved some so the fender doesn't have to come back so far? Just a thought.
I'll probably get bashed for saying this but the fit and finish isn't outstanding to begin with.

fit and finish is not one of the C5's best attributes, maybe move door split difference.

I agree with you; in fact even the cheap NEW Cavalier has narrower gaps than our 40K+ Corvette. Why GM can't seem to correct this issue is beyond me.

I've noticed this on mine as well. My gap is also
just under 1/4". In fact I think I'd say it's about 3.75/16ths. The gap on the rear side of the door is 3/16ths. Both sides are equal. I'd say that's pretty much how it came from the factory. I wouldn't mind if the gap were a little tighter but moving the door you have to worry about window clearance issues and it seems to me that it could really only get worse with me messin with it
I'd just leave it be and know that many (most?) other vettes have the same condition.
