Maybe someone can assist, to make a long story short, took my vette in to get the Column lock recall done. Took it home, sat for 3 weeks due to weather, finally took it out it has 3 new problems I never noticed before…
1 the Ignition ring is shattered fell into pieces into the dash this week
2 the cigarette lighter keeps blowing fuses
3 the dash doesn’t fit so well over the radio now.
The only thing I think I can fix is the ignition ring, does anyone know what that part is called and how it can be replaced (does it glue to the ignition or screw onto it), where to get it and maybe a part number?
I found a good picture of it on this excellent site, and I think these instructions will allow me to get to it and possibly the cigarette lighter and maybe even get the dash looking good. http://www.vetteessentials.com/instr...310081rann.jpg
If I had those problems after taking it to the dealership.... it would go right back so they can take care of it for you.
If it wasn't like this wen you brought it to them, you shouldn't have to go through the trouble to fix it, if it's something they did. Take it back and show them

Give Gene Culley at the GMPartsHouse a call on the ignition switch bezel. He can help you out. As for the others, I can't help you on them other than you may have to remove the dash piece and try and get it to fit better.
Ok got the bezel, looks like it might be pretty easy to swap, has anyone ever done this? is it just a matter of unscrewing the one screw, pulling the old and putting on the new?
Thanks again

Dude, you have to remove the (on vert) waterfall, console, radio bezel to get to the that thing. You'll need T15 torx, 7mm & 10mm socket. Hint, there is a screw behind the temp sensor panel so pop that out with small flat head. You will be disconnecting the elect plugs on the console so remember how they go back. You also need to disconnect the cig lighter too so check the connection; that might be the reason for fuse blowing. Take you time, count the screws & bolts.
you should of known better, CLB!!!!!!. don't let those fools touch your car unless you know from other vette guys that , that dealership has experienced vette people.

I don't think its screwed on. I think it has some kind of twist and snap on each side. It is easy to break when you remove console and knee bolster so I'll bet the shop did it when you had service on the column.

Give him a break as he is new enough here as not to know about the aftermarket CLB. I don't blame him for wanting to fix it himself and NOT take his car back to the people who busted it up. That is one of the big gains received on this Forum. The ability to stay out of the dealership rather than pay $95 an hour labor to have some butcher mistreat your car in the "attempt" to make a repair. GM, wake up! You are only as good to us as your "dealerships."
I dont mind the comments, the repair was done without me knowing, i took it to the dealership to get a GM inspection because i was buying it. during the day the day they called me and said "oh by the way this warranty work was never done and we did it for you" I didnt know any better, i was glad they got this work done at 1st.
Well its done, thanks guy, took only 55 mins and everything looks normal. Also, I took someones advice and tossed out the Cig. lighter itself, put a new fuse in and its been good for a week now. Im feeling good!
