I had that happen to my LT1 Trans Am on a 150 wet shot on the return road at Carlsbad several years ago, lucky I had a fire ext in the front seat and I put it out. Only thing that fried was my K&N, I duck taped the hood back on (SLP Fiberglass) and drove home. Unfortunitly this fire looks like it burned a while, much damage to wiring etc.
Always carry a fire ext
