Default show off

My wife keeps yelling at me when i show off the awsome sound of my vette at a stop light or in the driveway. She says that i am going to blow the engine. Admittedly i am not a engine guru but i was always under the impression that if the car is not cold and i do not take it up into the red zone i am fine.
Is this true and should i just listen to the old ball and chain and stop showing off.

She apparently has the brains in the family, stop showing off.
And show her some respect and stop calling her the "old ball -n- chain".

Nothing wrong with revin' it up, but be tasteful.

Some might say to much showing off is to compensate for other things.

Mine's 130dB from 10+ ft... And i occasionally rev it at lights and stuff if i've got a friend in another car revin back or something - Or i wanna poke fun at my Buddy's super quiet Ti exhaust... hehe

I don't see why a quick blip up to ~5k would hurt anything... no more than getting on the throttle and pulling up to ~5k... Just don't bounce it off the rev limiter a bunch or nothin stupid...

Default Rev'n

I'v always heard that revving an engine without a load is not good (dangerous). I don't do it on a regular basis. You wanna talk about a bunch of needless engine revving, ride with a pack of Harley riders! They're the biggest show-offs in the world! They just love to hear the sound of their aftermarket pipes!

Small revs are cool... like a "vrooommmmm... vrOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMM" and thats it. Any more than that can be obnoxious.

If I were sitting next to you or behind you at a stop light - I would be embarrassed for you as a fellow Corvette owner. Your wife is right - it's obnoxious.

I knew there was a reason for me when I put the Borla Stingers on my Vette, I thought that I just liked to hear it...........

I think you're just pissing her off. There's nothing wrong with a little bit of blipping the throttle. In fact my wife likes it. She says that's what a Vette is supposed to sound like. I once took her to road test a prospective new car for her and she said she didn't like it because it was too quiet and she couldn't hear the engine.
