Check the VIN...maybe it is actually an 2002. The 10th position is year...1 =2001, 2 = 2002. Or the previous owner was an '02 wannabee & put the 405 on the car.
After seeing the photo, for someone to spend the $$$ on that hood, but not touch the engine is unusual. Maybe there are a few performance mods under the hood and you have more than 405. Nice looking ride...Congrats!

The hood is carbon fiber with the sides painted to match the existing paint job. It was very nicely painted on both sides.
Underthe hood there is a carbon-fiber looking intake. That's all the mods to my knowledge. It sounds pretty stock, as far as I can tell. The carfax was clean, with oil changes at the dealer every 3k.

Seems like it may have been previously modded then maybe returned to stock before sale/trade. Whatever the case, nice looking Z. Enjoy.

That is a beautiful car. Don't worry about 20 HP. You won't miss them. It's easy to tack on more HP when you want it but the car is awesome without it.

or...believe it or not there are people who will spend money on cosmetic mods and not touch the internals of a motor or even any of the external stuff like exhaust etc. especially if its a lower mileage car and maybe they modded it early on cosmetically and wanted to keep it stock for warranty reasons etc. or gosh darn it, some people think theres adequate power in the car from the get go.
