Brake fluid for sure if never been done. It doesn't need miles, just time to go bad and you are there. I would suck out the reservoir, fill and bleed out the rest. I would suck out the clutch fluid as well. Be careful brake fluid is a on paint.

Just did the brake fluid and clutch fluid on my car with only 13,000 miles on it and it was nasty!!! Not many people think about changing this stuff, but they should!!!

Should I go to synthetic fluids?

ive thought about this topic as well. i just got my '02 Z06, and it now has 33K miles on it. As far as i know, the oil is the only thing that has been changed recently. i'd take my car to a shop to do a coolant flush (hate messing with that stuff), but brake and clutch fluid is something i can do. with brakes, are there are bleeder valves at each caliper? i had a '96 impala SS, and this is the way the calipers were. after i changed brake fluid on it, i could feel the difference. what kind of fluid should be used?

and as for the clutch... i guess it takes the same kind of brake fluid, but how can it be totally changed out? it's not like there are bleeder valves on calipers as with brakes i'm sure. i'm still learning about this car... and im wondering if i shouldnt just invest in some kind of service manual for it, particularly that gives all maintenance guidelines and schedules. thanks for the help!

a lot of guys just take a turkey baster and suck out the resevior, fill with new stuff, drive, and repeat everyday until the fluid looks like the stuff in the bottle (usually 4 days-week)

Dot 3 is good, (stated on the reservoir cap) dot 4 is better, a higher boiling point. Put in clutch reservoir also. Suck it out as well. Synthetic is good also.
