Allright I need some help I've gone to the dealership 4 times and told them about my gas lid.It keeps popping open and they said it's fixed and then I put gas in it and I can't get it to stay closed .
I've got electrical tape keeping it closed till I can go to another dealership that really knows whats going on.Unless some of you my fellow corvette nuts have experienced this problem can you help?
Maybe you could narrow tjhe problem down to being electrical or mechanical by pulling the fuse. If it still pops then it is a mechanical problem, but if it stops popping, it is electrical.
Just a shot in the dark, but is it possible that the problem is with the switch inside the console? Could something inside the console or the lid itself be pressing down on the switch or could the switch be sticking in the "open gas cap door" position? Just a thought.

Mine did this also, sometimes would not even close. It was due to the cold weather we had here earlier in the winter. The rod that retracts allowing the door to open would stick in the "almost" retracted position. Now that its warmer I have no more probs so try lubing the little cable that slides in and out.
