Found a vette on craigslist called up and here is what it has. I havent checked it out yet but would like some input.
98 black on black coupe lowered 17/18 chrome wheels. 64000 on car 50000 on new engine (old engine was replaced due to sucking in a bunch of water by a truck that went by). Title shows water damage due to be on a lot with 3 inches of rain. Had front end damage but everything was replaced car runs good supposedly has a few minor scratches typical of a 60k mile 9 yr old car. PRICE 14000.
I have not looked at it. If it runs and drives and the carfax shows what he says the only thing that bothers me really is how much would i end up selling it down the road due to the title and history.

Run away. Cars don't suck in water due to a truck going by. Nor would sitting in a lot with 3" of water, that would get the wheels and tires wet. Sounds like a flood car. And it was in an accident? I repeat...Run away.

My friend who is an auto body instructor has repeatly said to people over and over: "With all the electronics in the newer cars, do not buy one that has the word water associated with it in any way".
He says real problems could show up months or years later and you will hunt electrical problems till you wish you had never seen that car.
you are all correct i am going to stay away. The electronics would be a nightmare besides i found a 99 coupe black tan auto with 44k for 19500 so for the extra 5 it is a no brainer, the one for 14k might end up beeing 19 after any electronics that would be replaced and i would still have a "water damage" vette worth sub 10K

RUN, RUN, RUN!!!! VERY FAR AWAY! Too many unknowns, too many variables, and like a previous commenter said, water from a truck driving by does not ruin an engine nor does 3" of rain on a parking lot.
Run Fast and Run far!!! I had looked at a 2004 Mercedes CLK 320 with 7000 miles on it but I had noticed what looked like water marks on all of the carpeting up to the speaker grilles on the doors. The used car salesman told me it was coffee stains and I told him
Pulled the carfax on it and to make a long story short, it was a katrina car out of Louisiana and I ran very fast and very far away.
There are other Vettes out there for the picking. Patience is a virtue and the right one will come along.
Put your wallet down and step away from that car. Hey, sounds like the car could have some real issues. Just wondering if it would have problems someday would be too much for me. Hey Buddy, save your $$ for an extra year or so, buy the right car, and save yourself some potentially big headaches. Just imagine how difficult it would be to unload the car if you started having problems. Probably would have to make a yard planter out of it..... Hey, that's an idea....
