Has anyone installed the Breathless Vortex Ram Air System? If so, is there any power gains to be made and, can you feel the difference?
Was it an easy or hard install, and what is the air tube filter that is installed outside the ran air box?
Thinking about purchasing - just not sold yet on the supposed HP increase.
Thanks
chris
I put that on the first week of ownership of my 97. I can't tell if it improved the hp or anything but I feel better that the engine is breathing better. The little hose gets its own little filter. If you look at the OE air cleaner you will see it connected to the housing. It has been 4 years since I put it on and can't remember where that hose goes, but it is necessary. I removed the panel and cut the opening. You also can buy one pre-cut if that is what you want. It can be changed back to OE if you have one not cut out. I think it is a good product. Forum members get a discount on it.
I have a Vortex on both cars I like them not too complicated to install easy to clean the filter, might get you 10 hp I don't think you will feel it but your motor will breath a little better
The BPP Vortex Rammer is a great product. I've had it for almost 4 years now and see no reason to change. The only new airbox that peaked my interest was the Callaway Honker but the real truth is that it won't make any more power than my Vortex.
Here's some good pics w/ my hood off. I recently deleted my AIR system so I don't have that other hose for the air pump feed. It gets its own little filter and you can cleanly zip tie it to the shroud (that's what I did) FYI the box isn't actually installed crooked... over time as the motor torques the shround twists becuase the ruber filter base is in contact with the clear plastic box.
Servicing the filter isn't hard... I do it every other oil change, so about every 12k or once a year. I like that it's not your standard K&N w/ the metal end... it's got more filtering media and should allow for a nice straight air charge.
