Here I am in sunny Southern Cal. It is hot here and I took my 2004 Vert out for a run, and when coming back from the mountains, had the A/C on, and the car pinged terribly upon acceleration. I put only the premium grade fuel in. Any suggestions for a cure? Thanks.

Were there any codes? You could have gotten some bad gas.
Look for the simple things first. Most of us use the throttle hard enough every day to cause pinging if it going to occur. Check fuel first by waiting until the existing stuff is mostly gone and filling up with a top tier gas and probably a dose of Techron additive. If pinging remains a problem, talk to a local service specialist - not a dealer.
What was the elevation relative to your normal elevation? your PCM sets fuel trims over numerous on-off sequences. If you were in a substantially different environment, it may be related to that.
What is it doing now that you are back?
Thanks everyone....no, no sensor light or code came on. The altitude is the altitude that I live at. I did go up to about 6,000 ft., but that is not where the pinging occurred. I also didn't have my A/C on at 6,000 ft. I always buy either Shell or Chevron gas.
This weekend, if it keeps happening, I will add some Techron or NEO gas additive.
