My drag racing ability must su%k because with a 120.95 trap I only managed a 12.3 et.  This was last weekend at Route 66 in Joliet Ill. My 60' was a 2.05 on the stock tires all set at 30 psi. 1/8 mile was 8.121 @ 93.16. I was real happy with the trap. I shifted as quick as I could from 1 to 2. No power shift as I would have spun. I did power shift 2 to 3 at 6500 rpms and from 3 to 4 at 6200 rpms. I probably should have taken her to 6500 on the 3 to 4 shift but I got antsy. ;)
My DRM head and cam car is using stock valves, and I do not have underdrive pulleys, nor do I have a ported tb. The airbridge is also still stock. The main cats are also still on the car. If I put some slicks on it and could do a 1.7 or 1.6 60' I think this is a mid 11 at 125 car. Maybe next year.
Excellent runs. Great trap speed that reflects your big rwhp.
Once you hit a certain proficiency in shifting (which you abviously have), reducing the ET further is all about launch and the first 330', which includes the shift to 2d. You were running on a very fast track, still well prepped from the recent events. But it appears their launch area was not as sticky as it might have been, probably reflecting traffic by a lot of cars running street tires.
Short shifting to 4th probably cost you 0.05 sec or so.
I'm figuring on my car, breaking under 12.00 will take a 1.75 60', a good hook on the shift to 2d and staying off the limiter thereafter. That would include a 330' - 1320' of about 6.95 sec.
With DR and a line-lock and a little practice, you'd be in the 11.8x Then, of course, they'll call you to the tower for your warning to stay north of 12.00.
Hey looking good.....Did you suffer any wheel hop? How well was the track surface, sprayed good?I have noticed over the years sticky tires will really help your et but the mph will stay about the same...Keep your eyes open for those mopar boys :yesnod:
I tried dumping the clutch at 1800 and wheel hop city resulted. On my 120.95 run, I held the rpms at about 1400 and let the clutch out slowly to avoid spin. It worked pretty well. I didn't spin, but my 60' wasn't good either.
Thanks guys! Ranger, if I tried to launch like you suggest, my pos stock clutch with 17,000 miles on it would die a sudden death. When the clutch gets replaced, I'll give it a try.
