oil life remaining question
.... These are modern cars, with modern oils, not the cars from 60's or 70's. The old myth (every 3K miles) is not valid anymore.I change mine around 6K - 8K miles. The DIC is still at about 45-50%. The Mobile1 suggests and guarantees 15K miles, but being more on the safe side I choose to do it around 6 - 8K miles. I also use the K&N filter, which is way better than the $4.00 Fram filter. When you're using high quality products, then I wouldn't use the same standard for them as the cheaper products.
I just changed my oil & filter last week. This time, I'm planning on changing my filter at 5K miles, and keep the same oil for 8K - 9K miles. How's that sound....

I was told that the computer figures out the driving style. I change mine at least once a year if the oil life does not reach about 10%. I change my DD, which is an 04 Avalanche at about 3% ( 5000 - 7000 miles). That is what dealer told me when I bought the vehicle, use the oil life on the DIC.
Its all in how you drive it, if your in it a lot the % goes down faster.
