Thinking I need one of these, back of car gets covered with oil deposits. This is what stops this right. Who makes the best one? See CCA's on hear. How does it compare to the others in performance, cost, intallation,etc.
Oil Catch cans intercept mist from the rockers and keep it from entering the intake , resulting in intake, valve and piston head deposits.
I'd be surprised if the oil mist survived combustion resulting in "oil deposits" on the back of the car...
It cold be soot caused by running rich or it could be a leak from the rear differential.
The drivers side is known for leaks.
I feel any C5 can benefit from a catch can. I would be diligent in my search as my feeling is there are too many out there with the vette tax on them. I go my from e-bay( anodized blue to match the car) for less than $30.
My rear Diff. leaks a little and I always thought that was making the mess on the back of the car. Then I was reading some posts on catch cans and someone talked about exhaust deposits on the back of their car cleared up with the use of a catch can. Just wandering if this is true.

A well designed catch can can serve a very useful purpose. Beware of the cheapies. You get what you pay for. A simple empty container with a couple hose fittings does not a good catch can make.
