Default Hoop Mod Complete. Clearance issue solved.

I had an issue getting the top to clear the hoops, but finely figured out that if I pull the top as far as I could forward before lifting it from the store unit, I would get the clearance I needed for the top to clear the padded 2.5 inch hoops. Now all thats left is putting some heat on the covers I made to get them wrinkle free and smooth.
I like the way they turned out.
Just thought I'd share how my mod turned out.
Sherry

Can I ask what hoops you started out with? I'm looking for some but can't find ones that are this high.

Thanks,

I got them from RK Sport online. I bought the unfinished hoops for a cost of only $195.00 + $25.00 shipping. I wanted big padded leather hoops so I ended up getting the 1.5 inch hoops and used 1 inch rollbar padding and then of course covered them. Compared to the leather hoops online for $700.00 , my total cost was $234.00.

The reason I wanted to pad them is because I'm fabricating a clear lexan windjammer that will attach to them. With the padding there wont be any rattling and will be nonmoving. I had a windjammer that I made that attached directly to the back of the seats , but this caused the lexan to flex to much when other passengers were in the car and they moved their seat all the way back. It worked good but didnt look good to me. I had to think of something I could do as far as a windjammer for myself that would still allow the seats to move independantly, also one that I wouldnt have to remove everytime I had to close the top. With it also being clear, one is hardly able to notice it and I'm still able to see out of the rear view glass perfectly when the top is closed.
Today I'm going to the glass shop to have it cut from the pattern I made.
I'll post a pic once its installed.
