Default oil filter ????

Please don't beat me up (I did a search)but what QUALITY oil filter do you use. I've been using AC Delco but is there a better one??? I do an oil change once a year (under 3K per year)... (Bill Curlee) What do you recommend???

Cant beat Delco. In my opinion if they put them on there new then they are the best. I hear K&N makes a good oil filter though.

I used to use DELCO Gold, but now I use NAPA Gold or WIX (same filter), they develop more oil flow and pressure.

To be honest, I don't think it matters much so long as its an established brand of filter. The choice of which oil to use is far more important.

I have a Mobil 1 on it now...

...anything but a FRAM and you should be fine. If you go with other filters, just make sure they aren't too long (high capacity filter). They can hang below your skid plate and get torn off.

Bill, There was a comparison a couple of months ago and it came down to
NAPA Gold FIL 1042
WIX 51042
AC Delco UPF 44

These were all listed as great performers trapping smaller particulates and increasing flow. In the past I was using Fram, but no more as they didn't test well in the comparison.

Thanks Ed... I'm going to NAPA in the morning. Got 2 5qt Mobil1 for $23.62 ea. at WallMart today. How are you feeling??? Ready for some warm weather??? We had freezing rain then 5 1/2" of sleet last Friday/ Saturday. Took 2 days to clear my driveway. Had to chip 1' squares at a time with a spade, then push off the driveway.... Bill

I've been using the AC Delco PF 46 on mine. Works just fine from what I can tell.
