Default Pulled the trigger on headers.........

Just got done placing my order with LG Motorsports. My longtubes, cats & X-pipe are on the way. After trying to find a set used & jacking around with that route, I decided to say the heck with it & just jump into a new set. Man I'm actually excited about some steel tubes! I'm sick.

Any pointers for the install would be greatly appreciated. The rep/tech said I need to get the car up 24" off the ground.... I have no experience with the o2 simulators........anyone using them?

Thanks to Mike at LGM for your help.

You will be happy with the LG's. Perfect welds, fit, and finish.

The only advice I can give you on the install is to pay someone else to do it.

You will be fine, follow the directions. These are one of the easiest headers to install. If memory serves correctly the car must be 19" from ground to frame rail in order to put drivers side in. Although I have 29" in my head for some reason. Passenger side from the top. If you have turned wrenches before you should be done in 3-4 hours. The worst part is the disassembly, installing the headers is a snap.

My approach was "pay the man". Got a round of golf in while he did the work. Worked for me!!

Cool....thats more like it! I can get my jack stands up 24" If I need to I will set up a couple of 2x12's under the stands. I am sort of new to the "new age" hotrod scene. I have owned & worked on 50 + cars/trucks, but all the old chevys are easy to wrench on. I'm surprised about the disassembly being the hard part. It lookd fairly simple. Plus...my engine & underside are extremely clean, I detailed it this winter when the snow was flying. Thanks for the words of encouragement.

I plan on doing my own header install in May as soon as I get home from school. I will be going with ARH, but you could also follow the how-to on ls1howto.com. They have a specific one for LGs.

Headers are very hard to install. For someone like myself who is just getting started in DIY projects, a header install will take an entire weekend. Be prepared, it is not easy. But I can' t wait to have the satisfaction of starting it up afterwards and knowing I just did the install

I have heard if you have a 2nd man to help you, the install will be much much easier. Keep that in mind.

Good luck!

I will have my son home to help me for the first time since he went to Marine boot camp in December. I cant wait to get him back home,(even if its a short time). I have been working on his old truck (71 Chevy), doing all kinds of "refreshers", if you will. I miss him like you cant believe.

Anyway, I cant wait to do the install with him when we get back.
