time for the old routine again
weld broke on the back driver side of the H pipe. Fixed the passenger side a couple of years ago. Should've welded the driver side at the same time

Yep, not surprised. I think we have Arvin to thank for that. I'm pretty sure it was they that had the contract to produce those pipes for GM in the early '90s.

I'm assuming the H pipe is stainless??
Can I weld it with a regular MIG? Not doing it for saving money - it's more fun if I can do it myself

Might want to ask a local muffler shop how they would fix it. Then you would know whether you have the right equipment or not.

The stocker is not stainless to the best of my knowledge.

Yes, wire flux or true gas MIG will work nicely. You may have to drop the exhaust to get to the top part to do it up right.

Good way to do it would be to tack it while in the correct position (bolted up, etc), then lower if necessary and continue the welding.

well, took the exhaust out, and it wasn't the other side that broke... it turns out I did have both sides welded, but the freaking weld had no penetration on the flange at all
