Default lowered then aligned?

Hello, I just got my vette lowered the other day. I then took it in for an alignment. And the shop doing the alignment told me that they could only align it to the manufacturs specs. Is this how it should be aligned after being lowered. I would greatly appreciate the help guys. Thanks

I would think that is what they should do. But maybe try a different shop.

They are just covering their butts. They don't want any legal issues if you get in a wreck.

If the car doesn't drive, steer or handle well then I would be very concerned and take it back.

I had a "recommended" Corvette allignment shop do a Z06 spec. allignment on mine. More caster, more neg. camber, ect., ect. You will have a bit faster tire wear if you do this. If the car is a daily driver, a stock C-5 allignment is just fine. You probably wouldn't want anything else.

So if you get it lowered and stock bolts do you need to get it aligned? Or just leave it the way it is?

You need to get a four wheel alignment.

You should have it checked. Mine was off very little after lowering on stock bolts. Had about 6000 miles on car at the time. Watched and helped with the alignment. Was able to see the computer and compare the specs. Had more trouble getting it on the rack.

I had the biggest trouble today trying to find a shop that could get the Vette on the rack. I dropped it about an inch, and got new tires today. So, I defently wanted to get an alignment because I knew it was defently off after the lowering. And yes, it was off, but I had it aligned to man. specs and its all good now. Thanks guys

If I remember correctly, mine wasn't too far off a Z06 spec allignment after lowering. I believe you gain a little more negative camber when the car is lowered. Z06's have more neg. camber (among other differences)(neg. camber = tops of the tires lean in, the bottoms stick out more)
So...it wasn't necessary for me to worry about rushing out right away to get a new allignment.
Hope that helps.

I'd let it settle for 200 miles or so then align it to ZO6 specs with no more than a -.25 camber.

I just got it aligned to manufacteur specs to a c5 coupe not a z06. Oh well, we will see how it all works out. Hopefully it doesn't mess up the new tires.
