I don't know all that much about superchargers and I had a few questions.
1. How much HP gain can I expect. I've heard that the best out there will give you 50% more--if thats true--how much can I expect to pay for that.
2. Do you need an intercooler?
3. I know you need at least one blow off valve. The question is, how many do you actually need, and is the purpose of the valve to keep the supercharger spinning when the accelerator is depressed??
4. What extra mods (tunes, tires, suspension, engine, ect.) will I also need to install in order to make sure my car runs safely, can handle the extra power, and will get the best performance out of the supercharger??

1. Typically you will get between 425-520rwhp - depending on system on a otherwise stock car. As a reference, a stock C5 is between 280 and 300rwhp.
The major players in Forced Induction are as follows :
Exhaust driven:
* Dual front-mount turbochargers (example APS)
* Dual rear-mount turbochargers, (example STS)
* Single rear mount turbocharger
(turbochargers are superchargers by any other name)
Belt driven:
* Roots style (Magnuson Magnacharger)
* Twin Screw (Kenne Bell)
* Centrifugal 9ECS Paxton, A&A Vortech, ATI Procharger)
Bottle driven:
* Nitrous Oxide (never forget that N2O is also Forced Induction)
N2O is cheaper initially, but it is part time power as the bottle does not last forever. Plus as you get into bigger N2O "shots" - you have to get bottle warmers, purge kits, upgraded fuel system, direct port... N2O can quickly equal the cost of a supercharger. Expect to pay north of $7500 for an entry level supercharger system installed and tuned - and it only goes up from there.
2. Yes. Almost all of the FI kits come with either a air/water or air/air intercooler(s). The exceptions are the non-intercooled Magnuson Roots supercharger (there is an intercooled version) and N2O
3. One. The Blow Off Valve, or BOV stops compressor surge when you suddenly take your foot off of the throttle under boost. As the throttle blade slams shut, the pressurised air has to escape otherwise it will feedback to the impeller and shorten it's lifespan.
4. Good tune. If you want extra safety - add methanol injection and tune conservatively without the alcohol.

Other things that I had installed as a part of the supercharger upgrade:
better radiator
better fuel pump and a boost-a-pump
FLP level 4 automatic transmission (stock A4s are relatively weak when you boost the hp/tq with a supercharger)
Yank SY3500 torque converter
DTE 3.73 diff gear and hardened output shaft
If you have a MN6, I'd recommend you get a DTE diff strut
If you haven't already upgraded the exhaust with some LT headers and 3" mid sections, that is another good mod. With all the extra air being blown in, it could use a little help getting it all out.
Then there are other various options. Some kits (Magnuson) require an aftermarket high-rise hood. You could get A pillar gauges for boost pressure and fuel pressure.
Heres a question. How many miles is to many to wonder if its okay to put a super charger on your C5 LS1? I ask because last night I seen a Z06 that had a supercharger on it and I liked the setup. My car is pretty much stock under the hood and has 57K miles on her. Is that to many miles to bolt a super charger onto?

57k is fine.
If it has been abused, or is buring oil, then I would advise against FI on that motor.
As long as the entire car has been properly cared for, mileage is not an issue.

Thats good news! I am shooting to get one in 3 months now. I was looking at the prochargers stage II's. Says a 55% HP increase for a stock LS1 vette? And looks like I can keep my stock hood. I want that sleeper stock look. LOL
