on the C5, you do all that... but with the engine not running (the key in the run position, but you haven't started the engine)).
First... keep hitting RESET until all the ign-on pop-up messages stop flashing. Then go to the oil life monitor screen, then press and hold the reset button (again, the engine is not running during all this).

can the DIC be viewed and adjusted without startying the car? if so how? i tried doin that at accessorty mode and hit the buttons but nothing displayed. how do you turn it ON without starting the engine? are you guys refering to the accessory mode on with the yellow light on? i think the DIC display works only when the car is started or just idling. apprecaite your input. mahalo!
The easy way:
Turn ignition key to ON (don't start).
Press gas pedal to floor three times (not too fast). Wait 5 seconds.
Turn key off, then start car and observe reset oil life.
This is the easiest way, IMO on almost all GM cars.
To turn your car to "on"(not engine start), is to turn your ignition key all the way to the right until all your warning lights test and flash, and your gauges will sweep across back and forth. The engine should not be running and you should have access to your DIC. Now go play with your DIC
