I bought a roll of fiberglass insulation, cut it down to size, and wrapped it up well in some lawn bags...then stuffed all three rear storage compartments with it. I topped that off with some poly-fill nu Foam that I bought at a crafts store. Let me tell you, the sound reduction is simply amazing. I thought wrapping the insulation might compromise its ability to attenuate noise/resonance...but it works wonderfully. And there's no loose fiberglass to be worried about. I think this arrangement does more to reduce resonance within the compartments than to block sound itself. The net effect is rather remarkable though. I have B&B PRT with x-pipe and eliminated at least 80% of the around town drone. It's almost too quiet, and I have considered removing some of the material to strike a more suiting balance. Just thought I would share my experience...
That's interesting. I remember a similar post about this too. I have a vert and I have PRT's w/ that drone at 1600 rpm. I think I'll try this. What is the poly-fill nu foam? Is it something u cut and place in the bag w/ the insulation or place on top of the lawn bags? How many lawn bags per compartment? I have two small compartments on either side and the one big one in the middle. Not sure if all coupes and verts have the same rear size compartments.
Thank you, just deductive reasoning. "I have to give credit to Choreo's post about soundproofing, when he said that carrying a roll of fiberglass wall insulation home from the store reduced his car's noise, I got thinking."

I believe my situation is different than a stock machine. The frequencies must be different. I have a coupe with H/C, longtubes w/high flow cats & X-pipe, GHL Bullet exhaust (6 inch mufflers), etc., and a Lloyd's cargo mat in the back. As an experiment I stuffed a pillow in each of the three compartments thinking that, at the very least, any frequency amplification would be negated, or changed, in those three locations. I couldn't really detect any difference, at any speed. I used to run with two comforters spread out in the rear for sound attenuation. When I purchased the cargo mat, sound attenuation was at least as good, with just that, as with the comforters. Stuffing those pillows into the compartments did nothing for me. I was hoping for some change, at least. I really don't want fiberglass in the car, and, after my experiment, don't think I'll be dropping $40.00 on foam to try that out. I sure was hoping...
