Forged or Cast 5 spoke wheels
Can anyone confirm this statement? Also, are the forged wheels
lighter and stronger than the cast?
Thanks for the input.
Initially the '00 5 spokes were forged wheels mfgd by Alcoa.
Later in the model year, GM switched to cast wheels
mfgd by Speedline in Italy. The speedline wheels have a wider
spoke to give them the same strength as the forged wheels.
The forged wheels are lighter than the cast wheels.
The back of the speedline wheel spoke is stamped Speedline.
The '00 - '04 polished wheels are forged.

Get your wheel next to a (known) cast thin spoke; if your wheel is forged, side-by-side there is a very obvious visual difference. The forged spokes will have crisper edges and sharper radii where they join the center hub section and the outer rim. I don't know about the thin spokes, but on the back of the forged Z06 wheels it just says GM.
