they are not interchangeable, and it would be very surprising if they were discoed. I would give Gene Culley a call (forum vendor)
Thanks for chiming in. I was able to get some .
Is it correct to assume that when I get "Service Tire Monitor system" that I have a TPMS going bad? My PSI is at 30 for all tires and when scrolling through my menu the front right PSI stays blank then I get the alert.
Also if I shut the car the "Check active handling" sometimes shows but 99% of the time its the check TMPS. IT also pegs the TEMP gauge and the fuel gauge goes to 0. I imagine this is to just get your attention.
Its a 1999 so Imagine those little batteries in the TMPS are getting old.
yes, if the TPS system does not hear from a sensor (due to a weak battery in the sensor) it can post a Service TPS message. If the issue was that the sensor had a low pressure reading, it would post a low pressure message instead.
I'm not sure about your axctive handling message though. What I would suggest is to clear our your codes, then wait for that message to show up again. When it does, go in and pull your codes to see what's being logged. I don't think the two problems (Svc TPS and Svc Active Handling)are related though.
PS, if I remember correctly, the sensors will go to 'sleep mode' when the car sits for a while - this is a battery saving feature. To get readings again, you need to drive for 10 - 15 mins, at speeds of 15 mph or more.

Cool... Thanks. I only got that active handling error after driving with the TPMS error for about 20 mins.
Man. Whats with all these electronics... Anyone ever put in an LS1 firebird PCM and get rid of all these 'monitoring systems' . They are crippling. Oh well. Guess its the nature of the beast.
I'm looking at a wheel & tire deal for my '97 that's off an '03. Plan on swapping my TMPS into new wheels. Anyway to put new batteries in my 10 year old TMPS? Guess I'll sell '03 units after swap.

I was looking at that, I guess you have to cut out the resin. I saw some instructions out there. I imagine these things take some abuse so I am just replacing mine
