Default P0420 Code question....

I bought my car (upgraded from 01 coupe to 04 Z06). This code was thrown at me after 1 week of ownership. I went in and cleared the code and it didn't come back the next time I drove it. However, I drove it again within a weeks time and it came back. Now I know it could be a variety of issues including the catalytic converter, and O2 sensors. My extended warranty covers just about everything except exhaust (the cat. converter can be covered by GM free of charge if the car has less than 80k miles and is OEM...my car has 10k). My question is this, if I have an aftermarket exhaust (Tigershark...I think) how can I tell if my cats have been replaced with something that is not OEM. With a standard exhaust upgrade from the Ti would you generally replace the cats? The Tigershark came with the car and I have not had it up in the air yet to check everything out, I just need to know what to look for. I do believe it has an X-pipe installed too.

I'd really like to avoid having to replace the cat, but I would also like to know if there was some way I could check so I could make sure I wasn't going to get screwed when I take it in.

Thanks for any information.

I posted this in C5 Gen, but not too many hits in 2 hrs.

You might be better off posting a picture of the cats on the car. Maybe someone will recognize them as either OEM or after market.
