Well, was driving the other day and just notice that sometimes I am running a little high on the rpm before my car shifts. I have an A4 with 3.42 gears reaplced from 3.15, also have Z06 airbox if that makes a difference and 19/20 inch rims but the tire/wheel combo from my stock to the aftermarket ones only have about 0.3% difference in diameter, so it's practically negligible. Usually I would be around maybe 2500 - 3000 rpm from before I can feel the shift from first to second gear. The other day, the car revved up to about 5K rpm before it shifted. I had my 3.42 gears for almost a year now and never had this problem before, but then again I was kinda taking it easy also, lately since I haven't driven my car this winter, I've been gas pedal happy. Is this normal to sometimes have higher rpms before the car shifts, or do I need to have my shift points readjusted if there is such a thing! Thanks!

Well, if you just eased away from a stop and slowly accelerated it should have shifted much earlier. But since you made that "pedal happy" comment, are you sure you weren't WOT? That will def make it shift near 5K.

According to the RPM vs MPH chart on WCC, my gear ratio is also 3.42 (changed by a previous owner of course) When ever I'm "pedal happy" with it, mine usually doesn't shift until it's almost in the Red Line area......sometimes it is in there.

Anytime I'm WOT with it, I've noticed it doesn't shift until about 6300-6500 RPM. I'm still learning about these newer cars with the 4L60E's, so I'm not really sure what's normal for them.

If these are not normal shifting points at hard acceleration, someone please chime in and help us Brutha's out!!!

That's exactly what happened to me. I was almost ot the point of spinning the tires ( but I didn't) it did chirp a little bit and the rpm range went all the way about 5K, I guess it is ok then , maybe just keep off my foot from the pedal at times, but can you blame me
