Hey guys, I have been a forum member here for about a year, and a lurker for much longer.
I finally realized a dream and bought my first Corvette yesterday. It is a 1998 silver Vert with a black top and interior. LOVE IT! I cannot believe I waited so long (as I am almost 40 years old).
Anyway, on to my first question as an owner.........
Set the cruise at 85 mph and you'll be cruisin' faster!
You could do a couple of mods and you will want to drive it faster!
Really though when I first got mine I too seemed to drive it slow and the same for my friend and his '04 in the beginning it really feels like your going faster than you are.
you will get used to the feeling and pick up the pace!
I started driving my slow as well. I still do most of the time, however I do enjoy quick accelerations now and again.....Ok, most of the time. I noticed that I was always trying to prove what my twin turbo 3000gt would do becasue not man people knew what it was. With my C5, I don't feel compelled to prove anything. Thye already know.
I do not have pictures yet, because my digital camera is at home. I will post them ASAP.
It is 100% stock, has 59K on the clock and is Sebring Silver......... It looks so good in the sun.
I have left my office 5 times to go look at it in the parking lot, and I have only been at work for 2 1/2 hours...........
How will I get any work done today or tomorrow?
But have you managed to get any sleep? I can't count the number of times that I made excuses to go into the garage and looked at (or sat in) the car. I read through much of the owner's manual in the car so I could get the radio/seats/DIC configured properly, of course.

your driving slow @ night because you can't see
check out the HID
congrats on the new ride. What out for the Mod Bug. once your bitten there is no turning back
I remember when I first got mine it took a few weeks to learn the car. I wasn't totally used to what the car could and could not do and the pause point on the clutch was not something I could subconciously find automatically.
The way I drive now is night and day from back then. I don't speed, but I get to the limit very fast . I routinely shift into 2nd and hit the gas hard after reaching 5500+ rpm. I love that slam into the seat feeling hitting 2nd hard. I also love the feeling of turning onto a wide road that is open where you can fish tail the back end out a little as you accelerate.
And now that the weather is getting nice, the night time rides with the top off have started. My wife thinks I am nuts, but I absolutely love going out at 10 or 11pm at night and driving the local twisties.
You're just building up confidence and learning the car. Don't do like I did with my 1st Vette when I got it. Stepped on it a little to hard out of a turn and met Mr. Guardrail.
