I have a 2001 vert with the polished factory wheels. They came with grey lug nuts. Are these just caps that fit over the lug nut? If so, how do you remove the cap? I want to put chrome or stainless steel on them for better looks. Which do you recommend and where should I get them?

They are just plastic caps. Remove with 3/4 socket. Just hand tight with socket to re-install. Mine are chrome, came with chrome wheels. You may have to purchase from dealer or tire shop. Have not seen any online.
My '02 came with polished thin spokes and the grey lug nut caps. All of the major Vette suppliers have them. There are two styles. Balically like the ones on the car except plated and the second type has a recessed head. I got a set off of the "internet auction site" and they are holding up fairly well. I think the 20 cap set cost about $25. Or you could go with the steel chrome plated lug nut as someone else suggested. Good luck.
Check Bob at House of Wheels. He has chrome lug nuts that are very reasonable and quick shipping. Do a search and find his for sale threat in Parts wanted. Bill

Use a 19mm socket and just remove the plastic cover. Then the actual lug nut is exposed and you can take that off with the same 19mm socket. If you want chrome lugs, try places like Corvette Garage, House of Wheels, etc.
