Default Royal Purp question... Synchromax

Aloha all,

Just back from the dealership & my 30k mile servicing... So far no problems & I pretty happy with the servicing overall. They used the fluids, all Royal Purple, I provided without any question & deducted any charges for items I provided (as they should've). Again they used just about everything except the Synchromax for my transaxle... The mech said it would damage my MN12. Is this true? I'm pretty sure others have used it in MN6 & MN12's, Royal Purples site shows it as the proper fluid as well. Did I miss something or was the mech misinformed. He did know RP Max-gear (75W90) already had the friction modifier mixed in and therefore not required from my diff but not using the Synchromax left me a bit confused.

Any ideas, has anyone had problems with Synchromax, is there more than one type??? I'd still like to use it and plan on throwing the Z on a lift this weekend to change it out. Any and all help appreciated!!!

Mahalo

I personally use Red Line stuff in my transmission and differential.

Royal Purple's Synchormax is OK for your trans BUT he being a dealer was probably wanting you to uise the Max-ATF instead. ATF is what GM recommends.
Again, the Synchromax IS OK.

I personally use Max-ATF in my MN6

I have MAX-ATF in mine also. I tried the Synchromax, and shifting effort was noticeably increased.

Thanks guys... I don't track the car and won't for awhile so Max-ATF is what I'll go with. Appreciate the clarification on this one
