Not sure if this is where to post, but here goes. Would like to know how much it will cost to have a set of heads and a cam installed in a 01coupe. Any input will be greatly appreciated.
I don't know anything about it...that's why I am asking questions. I am not doing any kind of comparison, for I don't know what to compare. I just need to know what to get, how much it will cost, how long it will take (not a big concern), and what I will get out of it, and where to get it done. I live in the very north east corner of Texas, on the Arkansas border.
It cost me around $7000 for the cam/heads(w/ lifters, springs), intake, TB, timing set, including labor. So it's not that bad. The biggest price difference comes with your choice of heads. AFR, Edelbrock are at the top price range in heads but they come with springs already.
You'll also need a tune(included in above price) which ranges between $500-$600

Was it worth 7K? Or would it better to supercharge it?
Was it worth it? Yes
Is it better to supercharge? I can't say. I've never driven a supercharged vette, but I'm completely satisfied with the reliability, power, and sound of my N/A engine.

I had a quote on my 98 for a mild cam and patriot heads, plus they have to change plugs wires misc etc.final price installed
close to $4300.00
good luck!
Reliable, efficient, nothing "new on the engine" to break.
I have used many vendors for the work - best around i9s 21st Century in DFW TX (972 417 7177).
I know you said you like the H/C better, but after looking at the total cost, a Kenne Bell wouldn't cost that much more (bottom end power), but would have approx 75 more horses. You'd still do the H/C?

head and cam cars are great but its all a personal decision. If you are building a road race car a nice N/A package will be the best choice. If you want a street cruiser and show the car I think a S/C is a good choice. If you want to make some power down the road a forced induction package is the only option. If you want stock like drivibility you cant beat forced induction. There is no best package, just better packages for different applications.
I love my H/C setup and it really has been a great daily driver and I have driven this car all over. Last long road trip was over 1,200 miles in one direction. As Chris stated, you have to figure out exactly what you want.

You need to look at 21st Century Musclecars in Dallas. John Page is great to work with and their Lingenfelter Stage II head and cam package is outstanding. Great bunch of guys to work with and a quality product. Give him a call and ask him all the questions you want!
