Default C5 Side Cove Screens...

Guys,

I purchased a set of side coves awhile back and a little dissapointed with the quality (just a stainless screen bent into 90 degrees).

The problem is that they don't have a whole lot of support and one has already fallen out. Does anyone know of a vendor who sells a nicer set of side cove screens for the C5?

I experienced the same thing when I bought my first set. I bought another set from West Coast Corvettes a while back and they used some clear plastic pieces w/ double sided tape to adhere to the car and those held up great.

I'm gonna put the screens on this weekend. I think all vendors provide the stainless steel screen with both sides bent 90 degrees and double sided tape on both bent sides. I plan on leaving the tape in the middle of each side, and using epoxy to help adhere them where the tape has been removed.

I had that same problem. I removed the tape they had and used 3M heavy duty double stick tape. Got the 3M double stick tape from Orchard Supply Hardware for about ~$4 a roll. I did this on the rear then the front coves -- rears have a tendancy to fall off 'cuz of the heat from the mufflers.

I basically covered the entire length of that plastic thing where the double tape is on. If my memory serves me right the stock double stick tape they put on their did not cover the entire length. I figure by doing this there is more area for it to stick.

So the standard (non powder coated) side cove screens from Vetteshop are different? I bought my original pair from WWC.

They look to be a great deal!

Add a line of superglue to them and they won't budge!

I got mine from LAPD. Had them on there since 2001 and they are still holding strong.

"prime" the area the 3m tape will be mating to with 3m super 90 spray adhesive...shoot some in the cap and spread it on the mating surface with your finger
