the Z06 is a different car to different people. that's part of what makes it so great. just because you drive a corvette doesn't mean you have to live your life striving to set records at road america and focus every mod you make toward smashing your last lap time. there's more to these cars than just that. enjoy the car in your own way. that's what makes it fun.

that's why.

Sorry, just in a smart@$$ mood with it being April Fools Day and all.
I own a '99 FRC, I sold my previous Z06's

the vert came out in '98, FRC in '99, Z06 is just an FRC w/ heads/cam

there are no differences in the body/structure between Z/FRC? fact or fiction?

mythbusters?

No but there are differences other than heads/cam.

A good question...but so long as they know their own limitations - via con dios.

Which is exactly the answer to the other people's statements about not doing it to a Z16.
It's his Z16, he bought and paid for it, who are you to tell him not to do it to his Z16.
Let him chop it up if he wants to.
It's not like it is forever "ruined"
If you can turn it into a 'vert, you can turn it back into a Fixed Roof.
It's just a car.
Now, if we were talking about a '63 Split Window, then I'd start having a heart attack.......

Default Well

I have been away a few days, but, hmm let me see, I have had verts, and coupes, and the 63, I like the Z06, but miss the drop top, can't afford all the cars now, so a Z06 vert would be a great car, a Z16 vert would be a one of kind car, ( GS Verts in 96) I don't go to the track, been there and I am now done with that, I enjoy spirted drives with my Z and with the top down would be icy on the cake.

over 2000 Z16, turn mine into a vert makes the other low mile stock ones worth a dollar more and mine a dollar less who cares.

let the flames begin

oh and let see if I have this right

And is it just a bolt process, or do you think there is cutting involved?

Would it not be cheaper to buy a vert and convert it into a Z16 (actually a Z18).

I am not trying to be rude, but, it would make more sense to sell the Z and buy a 2004 CE convertible. I also believe it would be a lot cheaper.

Z16 is the model designation for the 2004 CE Z06, Z18 is the model designation for the 2004 CE C5 Coupe exported to Europe.

Ahh...I see. Are there any other differences in the 2004 Collector's Edition from a normal Z06 other than the color combonation?

The Z16 and rarer Z18 are the most notable of the CE option. Only 2025 of the 2004 (Z16) Z06 production (5683) were produced. Only 46 of the 2004 (Z18) Coupe production were produced.

Differences are the carbon fibre hood, color, stripes, polished wheels and the seats have the Corvette logo instead of the Z06 logo embroidered on the head rests.
