Default The "BETTER ENGINEER"?

I'm looking to add a few modifications to my 04 C5 Vette. I've come to a crossroad between Callaway engineering and Lingenfelter engineering. Don't get the wrong idea, both are really great, but I'm looking for the best. Obviously both can't have the title of best engineer so I'm looking for some opinions/and or facts.

thanks once again.

what do you want the car to do?

if you just want a "builder" of the two i have heard Callaway is more expensive but i don't think you can go wrong with either.

I agree that both are great but I would choose Lingenfelter over Callaway. Lingenfelter usually always won the tuner shootouts also.

If you want a twin turbo I'd look at the newer offerings by APS and TTiX. It seems that LPE has more experience w/ C5s and Callaway w/ C4s and now are finally getting back into the game w/ C6s.

That would be Lingenfelter's area of expertise. Both shops have excellent reputations but they both have their specialties, and TT's for the C5's is Lingenfelter's.

Some observations:

I've owned 5 C5's.

My objective on each was to have a reliable, well know tuner accomplish the work.

One additional consideration on the tuner: the ability to sell the Vette at some point without have the mods requiring explanation/justification that these were not the 'back yard tree mechanic installations'.

I found LPE to be best suited to meet my needs. Trust me - I have tried others, but there has been issues that were unresolved.

Cost plays a consideration on any mod - again LPE, overall, has been very reasonable when considering all the components noted above.

I presently have an LPE 427, the S/O has the LPE H/C, Kooks, Borlas, underpully, 4:10's from LPE (and it is such a great option I am tempted to buy another C5 just to get that package ).

Do yourself a favor - call the tuners you are considering. Tell them your objectives, listen to the responses and alternatives they provide.

If the tuner is willing to sell you a package that fits your needs, and meets the criteria noted earlier, and the cost is within budget the decision will be easy for you.

If you are limiting your choice to LPE or Callaway, I would recommend you speak to the fine folks at LPE. Callaway does not offer turbocharging products for C5 Corvette.

Callaway has focused its development work on supercharging C5 and C6 Corvettes in lieu of turbocharging. Our opinion is that supercharging provides the superior engineering solution for stock or mildly modified LS-series engines.

Thanks for considering Callaway.

Hello Mr. Couture,

Thank you for considering Lingenfelter as well. Feel free to give us a call to speak to you in detail of the services we can offer you.

Thank you!

I gotta tell ya, I was set on calling EG next spring but that response right there was worth at least $500 - $1000 extra. It will definitely play into my decision when I gather up the $$$.
