No coil over system is maintance free.If you just want to drive the car and not play with it to get the right adjustments leave the stock set up alone. On the other hand a coil over system will make a big difference on the track,

Might want to also consider looking at Pfadt coilovers and anti-roll bars. Need to make sure your springs, shocks, and anti-roll bars are properly matched to work together well.

Lots of people have said good things about the Pfadts.

BMG your links are not working. But I am also interested in coilovers and would like to know the goods/bads of them.

In a nutshell, the coliovers give you the ability to fine tune your suspension because of their adjustability. The Pfadts allow you to adjust height and the amount of compression/rebound of the shocks (dampeners). There are 16 settings on the Pfadts. The only real bad, and it really is not that bad, is that it takes a little more effort and time to find the right settings. But with a little knowledge, experience, and guidance you should learn quickly what to do.

I have a set of Pfadts but have not installed them yet, but several people on this forum are using them and have had good things to say. If you do a search in the autocross/road racing section you will find more info.

Pfadt is a forum sponsor, and Aaron has been very helpful to me and my brother in answering any question that we have had.

I think they make a vette look and perform great....but are not on the top of my mod list.....since I can just lower the car and be happy with that for now. If I had the cash .....then I would love to have them!

Thanks for all the info... However so as to make an educated decision does anyone out there know anything about the lg or the callaway coil overs? I know they are more but is it justified?

The LG setup is not as adjustable as the Pfadts. Lou says that you don't need the adjustments that are not there. They have billstien custom valve shocks too their specs. I think it's rebound and compression that are not adjustable. Ride height and corner weight are still adjustable. If I'm going to take anyone's opinion I'd have to go with who has the most experience. I doubt anyone here has more seat time then Lou and also worked on such a volume of Vettes. Remember too Lou's customer base, a good number of which don't feel that the cost of Lou's work is of any importance as to the quality of work they are getting. If Lou thought that he could give them a better product although it would cost more I'm sure he would as I know they wouldn't mind paying for it. I've looked into putting the LG kit on my Vette all though I'll need to save up for it, from what I've heard the car becomes more comfortable to drive and handles emencely better. Most people notice a significant difference. P.S. I don't work for LG or I'd already have this setup.

Default coil overs

and thanks for the imput. I used to race bikes for years and know that having too much adjustment sometimes puts more stress to get the right set up. I guess i just need to do a little more research, either way i don't think that i can really go wrong with coilover anyway. everyone and thanks for the info.

Really... are the shocks adjustable too or just the pearch that the spring coils sits on.

What kind/brand of shock do they use. It would be an exceptional set up with an adjustable pearch AND single or dual adjustabel shock.

If the shocks are NOT adjustable the all your really doing is changing the height of the car.

From the Pfadt site:

We'd like to dispel the myth that coil overs are only for racing! These coils are engineered for exceptional street driving and track performance. Unlike some coil overs, ours allow you to adjust ride height independent of spring pre-load so you don't have to compromise ride quality for ride height. Our coil overs also feature compression and rebound dampening adjustment that can be tuned while the suspension is on the car. The shocks are a monotube design for simplicity and durability and are fully rebuildable.

Monotube design for durability
Standard 2 1/4 inch diameter springs
Complete bolt-on kit
Fully rebuildable
Adjustable length body allows maximum ride-height flexibility

I just had my car at L.G. Motorsports and had their coilovers installed, along with T1 Swaybars and they did a track alignment and corner balance.

Huge difference, very nice.
