Default car pulls suddenly to the left

I also put this on the tech side because I'm new to the forum and didn't know where to start. I have a 04 coupe with under 11,000 miles that suddenly pulls hard to the left while driving and active handling appears on the DIC. This happens at freeway speeds and has enough pull to send me over the yellow line. This happened three times within a mile or two last week and yesterday once. When I turned the active handling off the problem stopped. I took it in to the Chevy dealership andthey couldn't find any codes and had no idea what the problem could be. This happens without touching the brakes, the road is dry, flat and straight and no pot holes with temps 50 to 60. My car is an automatic and is stock. I also note that in slow city driving when stopping if I just put my foot on the right side of the brake and not cover it in the middle there is a slight shudder and the active handling comes on the DIC. I'd appreciate any info

Might want to post this in the Tech Forum.

Read this thread to see in it may fit your problem:

Thanks for the info-I thought I might be the only one with the problem but it seems I'm not alone

I didn't bother reading the post provided above but just guessing either one of the tires does not have enought air or your front end need to be re-aligned.

Had similar issue on my 02 Vert about eight months ago. There were a couple of good threads by then that diagnosed the problem pretty good indicating that the Dealership would need to do a Tech II to find the problem. I took the threads to the Dealership and they found the problem. I think they replaced a module located on or near the steering column.

The steering position sensor? My mom just had to have that done on her CTS. I was driving the car on the hwy the first time the system kicked on and it scared the **** out of me. Makes me glad my FRC doesn't have all that crap.

Evil One- needless to say be VERY careful driving at hwy speed until you get it sorted out. There have been multiple stories (though unconfirmed) of AH malfunctions leading to crashes.

Some over on the C6 Z06 forum have complained about this problem also. I suggest you file a complaint with the NTSB and with GM(they will start a file and give you a number), so there is a record. Otherwise GM will tell the Government that they have no records of any problems and will do like they did with the column lock issue on the C5's.

This sounds like there is something wrong with your AH/ABS(they work in conjunction with each other). The slight shudder, or vibration at the pedal is the ABS unit cycling on and off. You will need a specialist for this one who has a scan tool! Good luck

I had the same problem. Steering wheel position sensor, though it never threw a code.
