dave is right... your missing the point. how is the cop being an ***? your saying the cop will be an *** if he tells the truth about the sitiation?? the cop is only doing his job. he already gave the guy a break, and if anyone is the ***... its the guy who decided to plead not guilty when the cop already tried to let him off easy. talk about looking stupid in front of the judge!

i got followed by a cop last summer out of state doing well over 100mph for over a mile. cop finally pulled me over. i thought for sure i was going to jail on the spot, but i was honest, answered his questions, and showed respect, and he respected me right back. explained what he could have done, and handed me a SPEEDING ticket for 80 in a 65. sure, i could have pleaded not guilty, but how stupid would i look in court when the cop shows up and says how he had been following me doing over 100?!?!

if you speed and get caught, suck it up and take responsibility. cops are doing their jobs, if you werent messing around, the cop would have had no reason to pull you over!

There is always the chance that the cop does not show up for court.

YES, if I was a cop and someone did that to me I would tell the judge the actual story and I am sure the situation would go through the roof pretty quick, so I never called him a *** I said he could pretty much become a *** over that.
The only way the cop is going to make the court date is if court is next to a donut shop.

The cop put you down for 40 in a 30. He CANNOT claim you were going 50 or 60 because it would make his official ticket a lie. Once you get him lying once, he's done, and you win.

There are PLENTY of lawyers out there who will take your case for a standard fee of $350 dollars and will fight the ticket for you. That's probably worth it.

Thanks Jay...

This program sounds like a good option... I'd never heard of it before this thread...

Thanks for your honesty and for being forthcoming...

I wasn't trying to start a flame war with Don... just don't understand people's point of view sometimes. Sorry if I ruined your prefectly good non-cop bashing, " [I got] My first ticket" thread.

Good luck in the future bro

What kind of crappy comment is that? Go eat another burger at McDonald's yourself...

Most of the officers I know are in very good shape, good people and a human being just like yourself....just not presumptuous *******s like you are.

See....there is this thing called "officer's discretion". I stop people all the time for doing 80+ in a 45 mph construction zone. Depending on their attitude, I only write them for 10 over (because the fines are so high because of the CZ). On the ticket however, I will write the original speed to show the original reason for the stop. But in the little box where you write the violation speed, I only write them for 10 over. It's not lying and it's my discretion to write them for 10 over.

So skillzilla.....YOU ARE WRONG!!!! GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT BEFORE GIVING ADVICE.

Don't even stoop to his level ruf...

"Keyboard Commandos", "E-Thugs", "Telephone Toughguys"... are at their toughest when not dealing with real people... I bet you 100 hambugers he wouldn't even open his mouth of the cop was standing in front of him... Only thing would be, "I'll gladly pay you Tuesday... for a hamburger today"...

The only thing he knows about being a cop is from watching it on TV.

I've gotten two tickets (both in my old car, '04 acura tsx) and each time I went to drivers improvement before I went to court and it seemed like the judges took it alot easier on me than other people when they found out I have actually realized that I need to improve my driving, especially since you havn't had a ticket in 10 years I think that you may get off easy

Yeah, you are right... there are a lot of good lawyers out there who can beat it.

But why go the distance... there are some good DA' s that just might say, "make my day!"

If you were doing 50 over and the cop wrote you for 10 over, walk away...

You got a break.

BTW, if you do beat it? That LEO may look for you and when he sees you, don't be doing 1 over or no front license plate.

i got into mine sat. night and was doing about 80. A cop follows me to the red light and shines his light on me and I roll down my window to talk. He says he could impound my car on the spot. He said, "Just because you have a sports car with glasspacks dont mean I can speed around" haha My friends and I got a big laugh out of the glasspacks comment but i was grateful for him letting me go.

thanks for the kudos jparr, you just got a free header install,,,,,wleing included if needed. but you gotta buy tacos...and pepsi

as for the deferral,,,I got one in marshall county, it was five years for thier deferral program form date I signed up. i was very good for 5 years. cost me a lot of money for a 15 over in a school zone ( it was sunday, no school).

as for the cars I dont drive, they alre ALL licensed and insured, reday to go if need be. I just dont have time to play with all of them. They do get a workout to keep them in shape. Two of them are almost 90 ( 1919 ford t's) one is my street rod ( that was my daily driver , it have 90,000 on it and a fresh 360 magum ) and the other is the vette,,,,cause I like to ride my noise ol harley.
The ural sidecar and the new nissan truck dont get used much either.

I have a lead on a 27 ford t coupe barn fresh from 50 years of storage with NO and i mean NO rust....here comes a hotrod.

I keep my stuff in spotless, mechanically great shape.

OH,,, by the way,,,, laketon is having a burnout contest in June, 22 or 23 for the laketon Days deal. cash prise for the contest. Jay, bring up your car fro the show and watch the burnouts. Sorry, we have to use a steel plate and you will not be allowed to launch. Just line lock or brake torque burnies. I am sponsoring the first 100 dollars fo the prize monies. Of course,,,is you slip and lay some nice rubber,,,,just dont hit the gate of the parking lot.

I like an officer with real life qualities. Sound like you are a decent guy. There are both good and bad cops. Just like anything inivolving people. When I got pulled over for 100 plus, the officer liked my car and we talked, he understood why I got on it,,,,but was stern it was no excuse for what I did. he did give me a written warning. I couldnt believe it.

I framed the warning .

I have no issies with cops, they are just doing their job and if you get caught , you were most likely doing something wrong. I do agree that some can be harder to deal with,,but if you had to do what they do for aliving,,I would be too.
