The suspension bushings on our 99 squeak alot going over speed bumps or larger bumps in the road. Is there any cure for this beside replacement of the bushings? They appear to be stock units. If they need to be replaced which ones are the prime culprits for squeaking?
Our car has the F45 suspension.
Thanks,
Newbie from El Paso
Try greasing the sway bar bushings. The stock ones are rubber and therefore don't actually spin, but rather just twist, so they shouldn't really be the cause. More likely if you pull the sway bar bushings out the bar will be rusted underneath, so it should be cleaned up and regreased and that might be the answer to your problem.
Be sure to lightly coat all surfaces, not just the inside diameters. I used diaelectric grease, it is recommended for use on rubber by GM, it is silicone.
I still have some squeaks, think they may be from springs?
Thanks for the tips on greasing the sway bar bushings! I thought I might have to replace all the control arm bushings too. I dont want our Vette sounding old before its' time. Any other suspension pieces that could cause squeaking? We live in west Texas so rust is not much of an issue.
