fuel filter

Default fuel filter

I smell gas after driving a while and returning my 1997 c5 to the garage. i have read in the fourms that i should check/change my fuel filter. where is the fuel filter?

That all depends on what year you have.

Driver side on frame rail next to the trans.

also make sure you dont top off your car while refueling
by keep clicking the handle to put in the extra buck or two i heard it puts overspill fuel into the charcoal canister the you will smell fuel all the time. atleast this is what happen to my sisters 04 passat.
when it clicks off thats enough give it a try what will it hurt

I think that the first thing you should do is try to see if you can see any visual leaks. the try to smell around for the fumes.
