I just recieved my B&M yesterday. My thoughts are - I did the shifter install on my C4 and it was a PITA.....this C5 install should be as easy as swapping wheels, in comparison to the C4.
hey guys I ran into a problem when installed my BM ripper shifter. Well it works but i dropped something while installing it. the link to the whole question is below, but if the link doesnt work for some reason then its the question about "dropped T40 tool while installed short throw shifter" under performance and tech. any help would be greatly appreciated.

OK - so i've started. took the top off the shifter - easy
but can i get that metal pin out - no !
Does it simply lift straight out ? i wonder if someone has glued mine in !!
There's a reason they call it the demon pin...
It took me nearly 20 minutes to get mine out until I looked more closely at how the pin is shaped. At the front of the pin (closest to the dash) it's shaped like a T. If you use 2 straight-blade screwdrivers, one on each side of the T, and use them as a pry-bar to lift upwards, the pin will pull right out. Careful, though - it's aluminum and easily marred up or chipped, making it even harder.
Fitting the shifter is easy - 2 mins - it's the trying to get that pin out and finding all the hidden screws for the console - forgot about the one behind the ashtray - LOL

I just installed my B&M today. It took a little more than an hour with me taking my sweet time. The shifter is rather stiff, and short (DUH). It's going to take a bit of getting used to, but so far I like it.
Yeah I had to call someone that took apart my panels to do a stereo upgrade to figure out those hidden screw placements. The one by the ignition is also a tricky bugger. What really took me forever was re-connecting the wiring for the gas button. That thing has a really awkward angle and if you can avoid unplugging it in the first place you will definitely save some time.
I also noticed that I had a hell of a time getting that demon pin back into place after install, so the cap with the 1-2-3-4-5-6 on it is slightly raised as a result of that...
Overall a great shifting improvement though, just adds to the entire "grunt" feeling of the car ... gotta love it.
