Default sub amp install

Tried a post in audio and did not get very many responces so here is my story. I just bought a sub, and a amp. I want to run my factory HU untill later when i can afford more. I have a monster cable coverter that has speaker wires on one side and rca's on the other. I have done a search on this and have found out that the bose system does not put out much for the lower frequencys. Is it possiable to use this monster cable unit that i have. Is there anywhere that i can tap this thing into to get the signal that i need untill later on this summer when i can round up some more money. I just finished all of the mods in my sig over this winter and am at the bottom of the money barrell. At this point i have more time than money. Please help

Amp: Alpine mrp-450 http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/prod...model=MRP-M450

Are you replacing your speakers also?

If not your amp is useless

The factory speakers have their own inline amps on them

Im not sure what you are asking but you cant make a great stereo system out of being cheap. Call crutchfield is the best advice i can give you or go to a local stereo shop.

Are you simply trying to add a sub to the factory stereo setup?

I know you said you're on a budget and just want to add a sub, but with the corvette bose system that is going to be hard to do. Reason being, if you want to keep the factory h/u you'll need an expensive adaptor and even then I don't know if you're amp will recogonize the high level imputs due to the bose amp/power system. Best way- Buy a $100 new h/u (you'll get a suprisingly good one if you shop around for $100) You'll need a $8 gm generic wiring harness, $15 installation kit, then do yourself a favor and spend $50-100 for a decent pair of 6.5" front speakers so you don't have to buy another expensive adaptor and wire them direct with new wiring(very easy to run) you can still use the stock rear bose with no problems using the generic harness. Then you have no problems using RCA's and a remote power wire for your amp. So for right around $250 you'll have a much better starter system, and the best part is you can sell your old front bose speakers for $70ish and your Bose CD for $125ish... really only costing you $55 and some time/effort. Good luck!

That's crazy... never saw that one before! It just plugs right into the back of the factory CD? Does it have a remote turn on lead? Either way, that would definitely be the cheapest way to go!

I added a sub and amp myself without using a PAC adapter. I simply tapped into the outputs from the stock head unit that go to the signal processor and fed them directly into the line in on my amp.

Here is some wiring info https://www.corvetteforum.com/techti...=120&TopicID=1

Simple and cheap. It sounds great too. I also made my own box.

I had an Alpine 10" sub and Alpine amp added to my C5. I have a friend who owned a car stereo store do the install. It wasn't too expensive for the install or too long to get it done so it shouldn't be that bad for you.
I have the original speakers and head unit still and it works great.

Yes, It saves you from tapping into all your wires and keeps the factory harness in place for easy install and removal. It sounds much better than line level wiring, IMHO.
