I have a 2004 Z06 9500 miles. Just started it up so a freind could here the new Corsas and there was a fairly loud tapping noise. I rev'd it a little and it subsided, but every time I would give it a little gas it would give off a couple of taps. I couldn't isolate it in the engine, but it seemed to be in the center. Any ideas????????
I'm definately not an expert on these cars, I work mostly with overhead cam design, but it sounds like lifter noise. Possibly just low oil/low oil pressure..
Could be piston slap, especially if it goes away after a little bit. If it's a new thing since the exhaust install, it's got to be an exhaust leak. Does it only happen when the engine revs up, and not on the way down? Check all your flanges for leaks, but if it's new since the install it must be a leak.
Finally got it up on a lift and it is the exhaust, installers must have nicked a gasket when they installed the Corsas. Back to the tuner for them to fix. Know I should have taken the time and did it myself.
