Beleive it or not, I purchased the 9006 kit back 04' (I think). It was just when they were getting outlawed. If I remember correctly, it's the low beam kit.
Anyhow, I've finally decided to try and install them. My C5 is currently in the shop so I can't get a look the head light assembly.
After opening the box and inspecting the contents, it seems I may be missing parts? A couple questions...
1) Am I supposed to have x2 snap on reflector caps that cover the end of the bulb?
2) Am I supposed to have x2 BOOTED harness adapter to connect to OEM Harness?
I seem to have everything else. Kits contents = x2 Factory sealed bulbs, x2 HID Igniters, x2 Ballast Units, x2 Fused Ballast Power Wiring Harnesses, x2 large washers, set of large zip ties, set of small ties, a set of mounting plates and a 15amp fuse.
If my kit wasn't supposed to come with either #2 (or #1), where in the heck does the male positive lead from the Ballast power wiring harness go?
.....welll i just installed hid's.......the bulb connects to the ballast.....the ballast connects to the stock harness.....nothing goes into the battery or car.....it looks complicated....but once u really look at it its a snap......
My Ballast Wiring Harness Leads from my Catz Ballast Unit are ONE Positive Lead and ONE Negative Lead. That is it.
Everything else gets plugged together (Ballast, Igniter, Bulb) Keep in mind that I'm looking for feedback from someone who knows and uses the kit I'm referring to. They sold like hotcakes a few years back.
I used to have a similar bulb swap HID kit in my car.
you have everything that you need in the kit. these kits are generic, you plug the positive and ground wires from the ballast into your low beam headlight plug.
that's all there is to it....
one issue that you may have is that the headlights may not want to go down when you turn them off, but a "fix" is to flash the highbeams, then they will go down.
also, using your highbeams will shorten the life of the HID bulbs because the low beams will turn off when the highbeams are turned on. and that is bad for HID bulbs.
By generic, do you mean "form fitting" or generic in HID quality? I was under the impression Catz HID is top notch quality?
Also, is this flashing of the high beams only needed with the Catz HID kit?
Raz
it's a generic HID kit, it will fit in any vehicle that uses that type bulb socket.
as far as quality goes, it isn't any better or worse than any other bulb swap HID kit from tawian..
Quick question, my ballast simply has a neg and a pos wire (no adapter). I assume all I have to do is tap the positive wire into the brown wire and the negative in the black wire, yes?

p.s. You would happen to sell those adapters?

i have a complete harness for the stock harness to ballast. I can mail you a couple of those and you might be able to make those work.
PM me your address if you want to try.
