Headlight Switch Question. Could use help!!

Hello All !
I thought I was losing my mind. When I go to turn my running lights on in my 2002, my headlights pop up. Even with just the first spin of the switch. I know this is not supposed to happen. Any thoughts would be appreciated?

The famous actuator gear in one of my lights does need to be replaced, I get the grinding sound, but this can’t be the cause, can it?

I have seen grinding gears causing the problem you have described.

Although I have not (yet) had the problem, it is not uncommon to hear both symptoms when the gear goes south...

More than likely, the problem you describe is due to a bad gear. Get brass replacement gears from Rodney Dickman. Excellent guy to do business with, great product!
