I have a black 04 Z06....and unfortinately do not have a garage to put her in..With the addition of a new daily driver/beater. I want to try to keep her looking good..
Is a car cover worth the hassle...does it scratch the paint? I live in Florida so the elements will be on her but i do like the idea of getting her out of the sun..
What covers do you have? Do you keep you car outside.....
I kept a cover on my White 90 coupe for two years when the garage had a project inside that would not roll . I used one of the Kimberly Clark fabrics, (EVO IV). It kept the sun off, the rain off ,and the cat paw prints off etc. It had elastic on the front and rear and I added a bungee cord rope underneath to keep it on, in high winds.
It worked great! It also lasted 4 years in the sun and in the garage. It started leaving a fine dust behind when it was removed as the paper was breaking down. Still not bad at all for four years protection.
As far as scratching the paint, I tried to keep the heavy dust off with the mist sprays from Mothers and Mcguires. It fit so snugly that it did not move around much. Even here in the breezy desert.
I have the new version of Evo IV on the Z06 now.
Pulling the cover off after not driving it for a couple of weeks feels like unwrapping a present.
My own Z06 lives under 2 California car covers and a permanent carport next to my house. The previous owner included these covers, and they do a very good job. The trouble you'll have is keeping the car clean enough to put the covers on, since it's really hard not to drag dirt with the cover as you put it on and off. I have an indoor and outdoor cover, but place them both on the car at the same time. So far, so good.
I remember now. The name of the new fabric is Noah. You can find it at any of the major Corvette parts dealers. I have the coupe cover. Someone told me that the Vert cover fits the Z06 even better.
With all the vettes at my work, I am the only one to cover the car. I think that my paint looks less faded. I am sure it saves the interior also.

To keep the cover from getting dirty on the inside you will have to wash the car before you put the cover on. If you don't the dust and dirt from the car are dragged across the car when you put the cover on and get transfered to the cover. Then when you take it off the same thing happens. After a while the inside of the cover is dirty and you need to wash it to keep it from scratching the car. A lot of hassle.
Dirt from dirty cover is a real problem. I am still working on a sky hook, where I can hang my vette upside down so that dust accumulates on bottom. No need for a cover then.
Still trying to deal with the oil, gasoline, and blinker fluids sometimes leaking out. But then again, that is why we have kitty litter.
