Yes, replace them with 50 watt bulbs. They are 885 or 855, forget the exact number now. Also re-aim them. Will make them very effective, I use mine all the time with low beams.
easiest way by far to replace the foglights is to pop the hood, turn your headlights on and then you can see the fogs through the headlight assembly. Reach down there and pull it out and be careful when putting the new bulb in because its a tight area. As long as you dont have real big arms you should be ok, it took me all of 2 minutes. I'm going to go with JDM and get the h10 hid's off ebay as well, they seem to be the brightest out there and only a fraction of the price

Is bulb heat an issue at all?, re wiring or housing distortion.

Is it difficult or are there any tricks to changing a fog lamp bulb on a 2002 coupe?
Besides PIAAs are there any upgrades available i.e. brighter bulbs?
Thanks.
I think his original question was any upgraded bulbs, besides PIAA. PIAA's are good, but expensive too. HID more $$$... Anyone know of an inexpensive resort to this... Just change to the Sylvania bulbs. I think the Ultra's a brighter...Dont know the part number. But someone will chime in with right part numbers, or other resonable options...
