Removed my FRC's today on my 97 coupe, doing some custom paintwork.
Anyways as i was removing the drivers side i realized how hard it was to get it off of the 2 braided steel fuel lines, and realized that it would seem to by darn near impossible to re-install them without messing up the new paintjob on them.
So whats the trick, i've seen plenty of custom painted ones installed, how do you get that drivers side one on without screwing up the paint? TIA!
blue tape the braided lines it also helps if you have a second set of hands... i had my dad help me that way someone can mess with the FRC and someone can feed the line in. good luck
or you could just cut the opening on the covers bigger, that would be the smartest thing to do since you are going to be painting them anyway, fresh clear scratches and chips real easy

Use the blue tape on the fuel lines and also tape up the edges of your FRC's. Make sure you use a paint that you can put on a flexible surface. You have to bend your covers a little to get them on. You can also purchase a tool at auto parts store to disconnect fule lines.
