Is there any maintenance to the TPM valve stems that should be or needs to be done during tire replacement. (2002)

There is no maintenance to the valve stems per say. However, the stems are connected to pressure transducer (which is battery operated). Once the battery is dead, you need to replace the transducer (a sealed unit). There are a couple of forum members who have disassembled the transducer and replaced the battery. Something you might want to remember when you get the service tire pressure monitoring system message.
