Glove Box Lock Changeout ?
This can be a problem when you buy a used [different colored] glove box and wish to use the colored latch that came with the used box. It usually still has the lock cyl from the donor car in it.
ways to deal with this;
1-Before shipping,ask the seller to use the key and remove cyl.
2-If the glove box has the service parts label in it,a dealer can cut a non chipped key to match from VIN for about $12.GM charges dealer $10 to call in for a key code.
3-repaint the your existing latch to match replacement color

This is what I did with mine when I replaced my black glove box to the gray one. I used my old lock/latch from the black glove box and installed it on the gray, since the lock/latch is black, I had a body shop paint it similar to the paint I have for the stereo surround/center console, buit if you don't want to pay for any painting, just switch them out, I have Medium spiral gray color lock/latch same with the center console color on a gray glove box, but most of the time I barely notice it unless I use the glove box.Hope this helps.!
