Hey everyone, I have an 02 Z06 and I am looking for a short throw shifter. For those of you that have them on your Z's, which ones are the best and are they really worth it? Also, I'm thinking about going with a 3.90:1 rear end gear. Is this a good choice for the street? I talked with someone at a gas station who has an 04 Z and he has the 3.90's and loves them. By the way my car is bone stock as from the factory. Any advise would be great. Thanks guys.
I have the B&M shifter and it is a lot shorter, but it is notchy while shifting now. If you dont mind the notchy feel than it is a great shifter, you can also go with the C6Z06 shifter not as short but not notchy.
Just installed the new B&M yesterday and I love it! Quite a bit shorter, but much stiffer. I didn't notice any noise from it after a short drive and it installs easily. Feels more precise to me, don't have to wander anymore to find gears. I can just use my fingers to shift now instead of my whole arm. I used stock shift **** and boot as well. Highly recomend it.
well everyone is going to have an opinion on shifters... we all like them our own way so the best advise is to choose one and shoot. now on gears i have heard it is a great mod and well definetly wke up the car. like i said in terms of drivability is up to opinion i dont think it would make a difference besides quicker shifting in and out of gear. it will for sure get u a quicker time on the 1/4 mile...

the 02 z06 Im awaiting delivery on has a B&M short. Im just wondering what ***** I can put on it. It has the stock ****, but I would love the C6 ****?
I just had a B&M ripper installed. It is short like I cant believe. It is notchy but it goes where its supposed to so far. it is a little weird finding 5th and 6th and reverse but those 2 forward gears aren't something I worry about when i need a short fast shift!
It does rattle a little if I give it gas and im overgeared, but I am going to put a rubbe collar or 2 on it under the boot and see if I can minimize or eliminate it.
I'm using a B&M shifter with a Delrin **** and a DIY Anti-Venom style mod. Before the Anti-Venom mod, the B&M shifter was precise but it took much more effort to locate gears. After the mod, it is the best of both worlds...Short smooth throws with precision!

I have a Hurst with an aluminum "Z06" **** from West Coast Corvette, along with also having done the anti-venom mod. Except for when the car is very cold, the shifting is smooth and precise. Also have a Vetteessentials custom two-tone "rat" shift boot to fit with the shorter shift lever. The mod also looks great now, too.
B&M 45044 here. Install was a piece of cake. I love the difference. Throws are significantly shorter & the shifts feel way crisper. Great mod - I always thought the stock felt kinda muddy.

2 different B&M shifers. I like the isolated model, no rattles.
I just installed c6-z06 shifter assembly on my 02z,I had bad torque tube so when I replaced tube I also did clutch, spec 2,slave cylinder drill mod,and I can tell you this it is like a whole different car, best mod I did.
