Center console
Is the console only supposed to open about 1/3 of the way? I can barely open it far enought to push the gas tank button.

It has a compound hinge... Open it straight up slowly at first, then put a drop of oil on each of the hinge points...

mine did this when the rear hinge of the compound part was broken. there is a little flat piece of metal conecting the hinged part. must be apart to see. easy to take it apart and see if its hanging up. new hinge costs around $40 or so. you must remove the entire rear section of console to get to the lower hinge blots.

Also, it is easier to open if the brake handle is down.

use silcone spray, not oil, when lubing plastic. petroleum products will soften some plastics - they're both made out of dinosaurs...

At least the hinge is not plastic.
I just used light machine oil with a pin-point applicator.
